About literature Kirja

It is clear that a human, who is interested in "everything", can read an enormous pile of useful and not so useful literature in over fifty years. It is equally clear that every reader has objects of interest of his / her own, and no one is able to give universally applicable advice to the others. Anyway it is possible to discuss with someone, sometimes for a lenghty time, about books, literature and authors. That kind of discussion may even be fertile, as each participant may get good hints about writers, whom he / she didn't know earlier, but who could be worth getting acquainted with.

Neither will I start to declare here, who is an absolutely good author and who is writing mere scrap. I shall just list in short form names of writers, divided into groups named by me, who have given me reading sessions I still have positive memories of. The names are within categories in alphabetical order. There are several possible reasons, why a certain author is not mentioned here. He / she may be unknown to me, may have not left a lasting mark in my memory, may be less good in my opinion or just may not come to my mind as I'm writing this. So it is quite possible that there exist pearls even outside this list. Certainly there are missing many writers, whose books I've been pleased to read, but who still have dropped off my limited memory, or whom I just now cannot recall by the name of the writer or  the book. Outside the list there are of course complete classes of books, which I don't know well enough to be included. It is clear that I haven't read every book the authors listed here have produced, but from many of then I have read more than one book and from some of them I have read all the books I've found. Anyway, the sole condition for a writer to be included here is that I must have read at least one book, which I ranked good, written by him / her. Although some of them also have written lousy books, this is no reason to exclude them. Poets I've mostly met in various collections, so some of them may be here on the basis of just a few poems. In addition to these I've read at least hundreds of books, whose authors are not mentioned here for reasons explained above. Many of these writers have produced works into several of my categories and in such cases they've been classified according to either the best or the only book I've happened to read.

The main purpose of this list is to tell to any even mildly interested ones, what I have read or maybe better expressed, what I want to 'confess' having read. If someone, who has come to these pages by accident or intentionally, thinks this list to reveal that he / she has some common objects of interest with me, I'd be pleased to get any feedback, if he / she is also interested in talking about books. If anyone seeing this thinks that he / she never wants to see or hear anything about a person reading that kind of scrap, then this page has fulfilled its goal anyway.
