Ladies and gents may I introduce to you the one and only Plommons from Sweden

The whole idea of creating Plommons web page has been on my mind for a long time. Having been Plommons fan for over four decades it's about time I announced it. So here is shortly more than anyone should ever want to know about Plommons. Let's go back in time when Plommons was created in the early sixties....

Two mates Maud Lindqvist and Eva Håkanson were walking down a street of Stockholm's suburbs carrying their guitars and met a photographer and a journalist who asked them those magic words, are you girls playing in a band? The girls were not amazed and answered: "Mr you have the honour to meet the first Swedish female pop band". What happened next is history. The picture was taken and the article was written for the Sundbyberg gazette in the article the band was called The Four Bows. The article was published on 1.10.1964 this is the official day that Plommons was formed so on 2007 Plommons are 43 years old and still going strong....

It was perfectly clear that there wasn't an existing band so the girls were in a great hurry to put one together. Plommons very first gig took place at one of Stockholm's most popular youth places called Nalen on 22.2.1965 and the audience really enjoyed the show and their careers had just began....

I had my first contact with the group in August 1965 at Gröna Lund in a place called Jump In, where they played one week with one of the legendary Swedish pop bands called Lenne & The Leekings. During those three evenings while watching them the band played as a trio and their intensity and musical pleasure was catching. Quite shortly after the gig at the Jump In, the band turned into a quartet due to the demand of their next gig in Gröna Lund's big stage. The fourth member was an organist and this combination is still the same today. The band members nowadays are as follows Maud "Måddan" Lindqvist lead vocalist and guitar, Eva "Plommon" Soelberg vocals and bass-guitar, "Eva" Kroon-Bisenius drums, Margareta "Maggan" Stark-Theander vocals and keyboard.

Their first record came out at the beginning of 1966 with songs Hungry For Love (Searchers hit) and Last Train to Liverpool, which was their own song written by Måddan Lindqvist. Plommons released altogether three singles during 1966 and 1967 and some of their songs can be found on compilation LP published in Sweden.

During their career Plommoms mainly played in Sweden but they also toureded in Denmark, Finland and Germany. In Finland they played twice in late 1966 and Easter 1967. Later summer 1967 the band broke up after more than two and half years.

Some members of Plommons and Suzie Watson formed a new band called Suzie & the Sunnygirls. Quite soon Suzie decided to pursue her solo career and the band was later known as Sunnygirls. Sunnygirls played mainly outside Sweden like in Mexico, US and around Europe. They made four records during their career which lasted until the mid 1970's however without the band's original members.

Plommons was reformed in autumn 1985 since then Plommons have played regularly in fact they are better than ever.....

....See You on Plommons' next gig......
