The Light Bulb Problem Answer
Many people suggested voltmeters, rewiring, or unscrewing one
lightbulb and seeing the light indirectly. These are inferior
solutions. In fact, the problem can be solved by a completely blind
person, and with more than three light bulbs, a blind person could
probably solve it better than the average guy.
The key is that light bulbs generate not only light, but heat as
well. Turn on switch A. Wait five minutes. Turn A off and B on. Go
upstairs. Bulb connected to switch A is off but hot, B is on, C is off
and cold.
